How to Donate to Yes We Can India

How do I donate to Yes We Can India?

      +

The fastest way is online, through our secure donation page at yeswecanindia.org/donate-now. The page accepts all major payment methods — debit and credit cards, UPI (Google Pay, PhonePe, Paytm), net banking, and wallets. The process takes about two minutes and you receive an automatic payment confirmation by email immediately after.

If you prefer to donate offline, you can also:

      • Transfer directly to our bank account (write to Info@yeswecanindia.org for our bank details)
      • Send a cheque drawn in favour of Yes We Can India Trust to 2638, Basement, Near Delhi Police Bhawan, Asaf Ali Road, New Delhi
      • Call our team on +91 9990022447 for assisted donation (Sunday–Monday, 9 AM – 5 PM)

Is the Yes We Can India donation page secure?

      +

Yes. Our online donation page uses SSL encryption and processes payments through a PCI-DSS compliant payment gateway. Your card details and personal information are never stored on our servers. You will see the padlock icon in your browser’s address bar confirming the secure connection before you enter any payment information.

What is the minimum donation amount?

      +

There is no minimum. A contribution of any size is meaningful. Here is a simple way to understand the direct impact of different amounts:

₹500Covers a child’s school stationery and notebooks for one term
₹2,000Funds a full set of school supplies for one child for the academic year
₹5,000Sponsors a health camp consultation and basic medication for ten community members
₹10,000Fully sponsors one child’s education — fees, uniform, books, and transport — for one year
₹25,000+Funds a vocational training module for a woman entering the workforce

Can I set up a recurring / monthly donation?

      +

Yes, and we actively encourage it. Monthly giving is one of the most powerful ways to support sustained programme work — it allows us to plan longer-term without the uncertainty of project-by-project funding.

You can set up a recurring donation through our donation page by selecting the monthly option, or by writing to Info@yeswecanindia.org. You can pause or cancel at any time by notifying us in writing.

Can I donate in someone’s memory or honour?

      +

Yes. We accept tribute donations — gifts made in memory of someone who has passed, or in honour of someone’s birthday, anniversary, or achievement. Write to us at Info@yeswecanindia.org after making your donation with the name you would like the tribute to be in. We can also send a notification to a named person on your behalf.

Can I donate goods, materials, or services instead of money?

      +

In some cases, yes. We periodically accept donations of school stationery, books, hygiene supplies, and other materials that map directly to our programme needs. Please write first to Info@yeswecanindia.org describing what you have, and we will confirm whether it is something we can use effectively right now.

Corporate in-kind donations above a threshold may qualify for CSR valuation — please consult your tax advisor and contact us for a letter of acknowledgement.

      80G Tax Deduction on Donations

Is my donation eligible for an 80G tax deduction?

      +

Yes. Yes We Can India is registered under Section 80G of the Income Tax Act, 1961. Donations made by Indian taxpayers — individuals, HUFs, and companies — are eligible for a 50% income tax deduction on the donated amount, subject to the limits prescribed under the Income Tax Act.

To illustrate: if you donate ₹10,000, you can claim a deduction of ₹5,000 from your taxable income. In the 30% tax bracket, this reduces the real cost of your donation to ₹8,500 after the tax benefit.

How do I claim the 80G deduction on my tax return?

      +

After every donation, Yes We Can India issues an official 80G receipt that includes our PAN number, our 80G registration certificate number, your name, the donation amount, and the date of transaction. You will need to mention this information in Schedule 80G of your ITR form.

From Assessment Year 2021–22 onward, we also file Form 10BD listing your donation — you do not need to chase us for it. Note: Tax rules can change with each Finance Act. Please consult your CA for advice specific to your situation.

When will I receive my 80G receipt?

      +

For online donations, an automatic payment confirmation is sent immediately to the email address provided at checkout. A formal 80G tax receipt is issued within 7 working days of your donation being received and cleared.

If you have not received your receipt within that window, write to Info@yeswecanindia.org with your payment reference number and we will reissue it promptly.

Can my company claim an 80G deduction on a CSR donation?

      +

This is a nuanced area. Under the Income Tax Act, donations qualifying as mandatory CSR spend (the 2% of net profit required under Section 135 of the Companies Act, 2013) are not eligible for deduction under Section 80G — this was disallowed under an amendment effective from Assessment Year 2021–22.

However, voluntary contributions made above and beyond the mandatory CSR obligation may still qualify. We strongly recommend your company consult its CA before filing. We provide all necessary documentation regardless of how your tax team classifies the contribution.

Is there a limit on how much I can claim under 80G?

      +

For most 80G-eligible donations including those to Yes We Can India, the deduction is 50% of the donated amount, but the total qualifying amount is capped at 10% of your adjusted gross total income. Donations above that ceiling can still be made — they simply do not generate additional 80G deductions for the excess amount. Your CA is the right person to walk through the specific maths for your income level.

Donating from Outside India — FCRA & Foreign Contributions

Can I donate if I live outside India?

      +

Yes. Yes We Can India holds registration under the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act, 2010 (FCRA), granted by the Ministry of Home Affairs. This authorises us to legally receive donations from foreign nationals, PIOs, NRIs residing abroad, and international organisations including foundations and multinational corporations.

Without FCRA registration, it is illegal for an Indian NGO to receive foreign contributions under Indian law. Many NGOs do not hold this registration. Yes We Can India does, and we maintain it in full compliance, including filing annual FCRA returns with the MHA.

How do I donate from abroad?

      +

International donors can contribute via our online donation page using an international credit or debit card, or through a wire transfer to our designated FCRA bank account. Please write to Info@yeswecanindia.org before making a wire transfer so we can provide the correct FCRA account details.

Important: Do not transfer to our domestic bank account — foreign contributions must be received exclusively in the designated FCRA account under Indian law.

Can NRIs and PIOs receive an 80G benefit on donations?

      +

Section 80G deductions are available against Indian taxable income. If you are an NRI or PIO with Indian-sourced income that is taxable in India, you may be eligible to claim the 80G deduction on your Indian ITR. If you have no Indian taxable income, the deduction will not apply in India — though you may be able to claim a charitable deduction in your country of residence. Please verify with a local tax advisor. We provide 80G receipts to all donors regardless of residency.

Can a foreign company fund CSR programmes through Yes We Can India?

      +

Yes. Our FCRA registration makes Yes We Can India a fully compliant recipient for international companies or overseas parents of Indian entities looking to fund social programmes in India. We also work with Indian subsidiaries of foreign companies on domestic CSR programmes under the Companies Act, 2013.

For structured corporate partnerships, visit our corporate CSR partnership page or write to us directly.

How Yes We Can India Uses Your Donation

Where does my donation actually go?

      +

A minimum of 80% of all funds received is directed to direct programme activities — the work that reaches actual beneficiaries. Here is where your money goes:

      • Child education — school enrolment support, remedial learning, scholarship payments covering fees, uniform, books and transport, and community sensitisation for parents
      • Healthcare — mobile health camps, medical screening, medicines, referral coordination, and hygiene awareness programmes
      • Women’s empowerment — vocational training, trainer fees, training materials, market linkage support, and self-help group facilitation
      • Senior citizen care — day care support, health monitoring visits, emotional wellbeing sessions, and community inclusion activities
      • Environment — tree plantation drives, waste awareness campaigns, and community green initiatives

Does Yes We Can India publish financial statements and fund utilisation reports?

      +

Yes. Yes We Can India maintains audited accounts and files all required returns with the Income Tax Department, the Ministry of Home Affairs (for FCRA), and where applicable, the Ministry of Corporate Affairs. We publish an annual impact report summarising programme outcomes and fund utilisation.

Corporate and major individual donors receive programme-specific quarterly utilisation reports. Write to Info@yeswecanindia.org to request a copy of our most recent annual report or audited accounts.

How do I know my money is not being misused?

      +

We understand why this question exists. Here is why Yes We Can India is different — and how you can verify it:

      • Our 12A registration means the Income Tax Department has verified us as a genuine charitable institution
      • Our 80G certification is renewed periodically after IT Department review — a fraudulent organisation does not retain it
      • Our FCRA registration requires annual returns filed with the Ministry of Home Affairs — one of the most scrutinised compliance obligations for any Indian NGO
      • Our accounts are audited by an independent chartered accountant every financial year
      • Our certificates are publicly viewable at yeswecanindia.org/certificates

We cannot ask you to take our word for it — we invite you to verify. Call us on +91 9990022447. Real organisations pick up the phone.

Can I choose which programme my donation supports?

      +

Yes. If you have a preference — education, health, women’s empowerment, senior care, or environment — note it in the comments field on our donation page, or write to us at Info@yeswecanindia.org with your payment reference after donating.

For child sponsorship specifically — where your contribution is linked to a named child’s education for a year — please contact us directly. We facilitate this for verified individual and corporate donors and provide periodic updates on the sponsored child’s progress.

Refund Policy — What Happens If Something Goes Wrong

Can I get a refund on my donation?

      +

Yes We Can India reviews refund requests for genuine transactional errors on a case-by-case basis. To request a refund, write to Info@yeswecanindia.org within 7 days of the transaction with your full name, email address used at donation, the transaction date, the amount, and your payment reference or transaction ID.

We will acknowledge within 2 working days and resolve all refund decisions within 7 working days of acknowledgement. Where a refund is approved, the amount is returned to the original payment method — typically 5–10 working days for card transactions and 2–3 working days for UPI or net banking.

Are there donations that are not eligible for a refund?

      +

Refunds are not available for change-of-mind after funds have already been allocated to an active programme, for donations made as part of a confirmed sponsorship agreement, or for donations made more than 30 days prior to the refund request.

In cases where a full refund is not possible due to programme commitment, we will work with you to find an appropriate resolution — which may include redirecting the funds to a different programme area of your choosing.

What if I was charged twice for the same donation?

      +

Write to us immediately at Info@yeswecanindia.org with both transaction references. Duplicate charge cases are treated as priority refund cases — we aim to confirm and process the refund within 5 working days.

Please also check your bank or UPI statement first, as some payment gateways show a pending authorisation that clears automatically within 24–48 hours without a second actual charge.

I donated but never received a receipt. What should I do?

      +

First, check your spam or promotions folder — automated receipt emails sometimes land there. If you genuinely did not receive a confirmation within 24 hours, write to Info@yeswecanindia.org with your name, the approximate donation amount, the date, and the payment method used. We will locate the transaction and reissue your receipt. Your 80G tax receipt will follow once we have confirmed your contact details.
